We Are Fiber strengthens its compliance position in terms of privacy

To ensure greater protection of the personal data of European Union citizens, on 17 April 2016 the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force, effective from 25 May 2018. The European Commission has stipulated that all companies that come into possession of their customers' personal data need comply with the legislation, ensuring the transparent use of data in accordance with the indicated rules.

We Are Fiber adheres to all GDPR requirements and, to ensure further security and protection of its customers' personal data, has obtained a further certification. This certification comprises independent verification by an external and impartial body.

Although not mandatory, We Are Fiber has taken this path to ensure maximum transparency and fairness to customers, but also to its employees.

How to protect personal privacy data?

GDPR compliance

The data processed by We Are Fiber, essential for the provision and management of the requested services, is used by the staff in compliance with professional secrecy, office secrecy and the rights of the data subject (articles 12 to 22 of the GDPR). Consequently, data procedures are based on the principles of legitimacy, correctness, lawfulness, indispensability, relevance and are not classified as excessive, in terms of the purposes for which it was collected, so following the provisions of the GDPR.

One of the most significant innovations of the regulation is the introduction of the accountability principle, which attributes to the data controllers the task of ensuring, and being able to prove, compliance with the principles applicable to the processing of personal data.

To implement this principle, We Are Fiber protects data from the design stage, through technical and organizational measures (data protection by design), and, in turn, prepares adequate technical and organizational measures in order to guarantee, by default, the processing of only that data necessary for specific processing purposes (data protection by default).

The new certification strengthens data protection for end customers and clients

The legislation contained in EU Regulation 2016/679 aims to protect the confidentiality of personal data, to prevent the incorrect usage of this and damaging or infringing fundamental freedoms and personal dignity.

This is especially critical for a company that processes a great deal of personal data on a daily basis, mostly concerning the identification and payment details of customers and employees.

We Are Fiber has quickly adapted to this new privacy context, so offering a guarantee to the companies that have chosen to partner with us.

After becoming compliant from a document perspective with the GDPR, and after passing first-party audits, performed internally, and second-party audits, performed by our commercial partners, we independently requested a third-party audit. This was performed by a certifying body which, having detected full compliance, issued us with a certificate of compliance in terms of the GDPR 679/2016.

The certification body chosen by We Are Fiber, LL-C Certification, after carefully having audited our organization, scrutinizing all the procedures and processes, will continue to carry out periodic checks and controls to ensure the correct maintenance of quality standards.

Furthermore, in full compliance with the requirements for the assessment and treatment of information security risks, Fiber Group has also obtained the ISO / IEC 27001 certification.

These additional certifications demonstrate our desire to become an increasingly reliable partner for our customers, where we can guarantee maximum security in data processing.
